Free Form Message/

Select Message From Media List

Select the first option to create an unformatted message.

Select the second option to use a message from a media list created in storm STUDIO.

Set SMS Content

If you opted to create a free form message, type the message (preceded by =) in the Message Contents field (as shown above) or use a user string variable:

Using a variable offers the advantage of formatting the message with placeholders using the Format String action cell.

If you opted to select a message from a media list, use the Select Media List option to select the file from the options list and then select Text File to choose a text file in the media list.

Alternatively, select Use Dynamic Text File to use a user string variable containing the name of the text file:

For best results, use standard American National Standards Institute (ANSI) characters in the range 32-126 for the text message.

If a free-format message contains characters outside the ASCII 0-127 range:

  • The maximum character count for a single message is 70 instead of 160
  • If the message requires multiple parts, the number of characters per part is 67, instead of 153.

Description

Destination Address

The number to which the SMS will be sent (a literal value or a user string variable).

Presentation Address

The number or text value to be used as the presentation address (CLI) that is seen by the message recipient (a literal value or a user string variable).

Do not deliver SMS after certain time

A network will try to send the submitted message as soon as possible and will keep trying if this is not possible (for example, due to poor radio reception). Select the check box to set an expiry period after which the network should not attempt to send the message in such a case. Use the Time after message sent option to specify a period measured from when the action cell submitted the message, or use the Fixed date option to select an absolute date.

Send As Mobile Internet Link

This is used to support devices that do not support modern internet browsers

Select this to instruct the action cell to send a message with a link to the message content, which, when clicked, allows access to the message content over the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) standard.
